The Emerging Leader Program (ELP) was created for new students to learn leadership skills and explore involvement opportunities with a special emphasis on SGA. Further, it is designed to increase the participants' understanding of the shared governance system at Illinois State University. The Student Government Association collaborates with the Athletic Department to support Redbird Athletics and increase attendance at sporting events. In the past, the Association has provided free tickets for students, giveaways, and sponsored spirit competitions for selected sporting events. For more information, contact Programs Director at .
This program was created in 2003 in an attempt to extend the operating hours of Milner Library. Thanks to the assistance of several student volunteers, recruited by the Association, it has been a huge success. Volunteers spend their time in the library restocking shelves, attending to the front desk, monitoring the computer lab, and other associated tasks.
Milner Library is currently looking for volunteers to work between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. They are looking for individuals able and willing to work from 2 to 5 hours a week. If you or a group you are apart of are interested in doing service hours at Milner Library, volunteers are always needed at any time. In 2004, the Student Government Association created this recognition program in an attempt to foster an increased sense of pride in both the Institution and the athletic programs. The Membership & Programs Committee is responsible for reviewing the applications and selecting a recipient. The program recognizes one student each month whose actions and efforts have demonstrated a commitment to the Institution and/or a significant contribution to increasing school spirit. The Association created this program in order to pay tribute to the incredible number of organizations who produce quality programs and who have a significant impact on the campus community. Parents may send their students a care package at several different holidays and right before Final's. The Care Packages are ordered by the Student Government Association and delivered directly to the students. Community Clean-up is a way for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) to earn money while helping to keep the campus clean at the same time. The "Common Sense 101: Supporting Positive Neighborly Conduct" campaign is based off the one at Colorado State University. One of the goals of this years administration is to increase relations with the Town and governmental officials. It would be in conjunction with the university wide community service project and also offer informative sessions. The basic concept is to place posters around campus
This program is designed to recognize a legislative member of the assembly for going above and beyond his/her assigned duties throughout the month. The Senator is chosen by the Executive Branch of the Association and is given a gift to reward his/her extra efforts.
